Position Overview:
Provides a continuum of individual student planning, school counseling core curriculum, behavioral health services, including data-driven prevention and intervention strategies for ensuring equitable access to resources and promoting academic achievement , social/emotional and career development to enhance student success for college and career readiness.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive school counseling services that support students\' academic achievement, college and career readiness, and personal/social development. Deliver individual, small-group, and classroom counseling while helping students develop academic plans, organizational skills, and strategies for success. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to identify student needs, remove barriers to learning, and promote positive student outcomes. Monitor student progress, attendance, and overall well-being, using data to inform interventions and support student achievement. Promote a safe, inclusive school environment by providing prevention education, responding to student concerns, making appropriate referrals, and fulfilling mandated reporting responsibilities in accordance with state law.
Minimum Requirements:
Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 066, 067 or 068 as applicable.
Preferred Requirements:
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
