Enrichment Counselor Janney+ - 5.0 Washington, DC Job Details Part-time $19 - $20 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Student supervision Removing debris Student behavior monitoring Clean workspace maintenance Full Job Description Job Overview A Janney+ Enrichment Counselor will be assigned to work with the Janney+ Enrichment program. Counselors' direct supervisors will be the Enrichment Director, however they may be given directives from any of the three program directors as well as the Enrichment Coordinator. A Janney+ Enrichment Counselor assigned to JEP is responsible for providing an environment that allows students to participate in fun, diverse, and engaging after-school classes for children from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. Counselors will also be tasked with check-in and out procedures, monitoring the whereabouts of all students during snack time and at dismissal. Counselors will be assigned specific classes to support each day. Counselors will also be assigned clean up responsibilities at the end of the day so that Janney+ leaves the space it uses in better condition than when we arrived.
Primary Responsibilities Duties:
Arrives on time for scheduled work days; typically, 2:30-5:00pm Utilizes the Responsive Classroom and Positive Behavior Support to create a community of character; Enforces Janney School expectations; Models appropriate practices and will offer constructive feedback, in a supportive and collegial manner; Assists with check-in by guiding students to their designated class/table, assists vendor to ensure attendance is taken properly by ensuring students are not taking attendance, encourage students to follow check-in expectations, monitor the general space, ensure all areas on the mulch playground are kept clean and trash is removed Assist with check-out by ensuring students are sitting in line at their cone waiting to be picked up by their parent or JAC, monitor the general space, remind families to check-out students prior to picking up in the gym, support parents/guardians in providing PINs Supports Enrichment instructors in the classroom by helping to ensure students are following directions and providing individual support where needed. Orients students and parents on program rules and procedures; Manages behavior issues and keeps Director informed of students that may need additional support; uses walkie talkie during check-in, programming and check-out to communicate with Enrichment team Manages emergency situations & practices (fire drills, cover, etc.…) Attends meetings as requested by the Program Director to report general classroom updates regarding students, staff, and program happenings; Participates in weekly meetings with their JEP team to discuss program updates/needs; Captures images and/or discusses ideas for newsletter/updates as well as ways to improve programming Attends staff meetings as requested by the Program Director; Cleans up utilized work areas, returning the room to better conditions than it was found; ensuring all materials are removed from the classroom at the end of the day, tables are wiped off and chairs are put up. Is flexible and proactive in responding to program and director needs.
Pay:
$19.00 - $20.00 per hour
