Duties Provide comprehensive academic advising to help students select appropriate courses, plan post-secondary pathways, and meet graduation requirements Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on social-emotional well-being, behavioral guidance, and mental health support Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, social workers, and external specialists to develop tailored support plans for students with special education needs or behavioral challenges Manage conflict resolution and behavior management strategies to promote a positive school climate Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and available support services Ensure compliance with educational regulations, school policies, and confidentiality standards while handling sensitive student information Assist students in preparing for standardized testing and college admissions processes by providing guidance on application procedures and career exploration Skills Strong knowledge of special education laws, educational compliance, and school policy frameworks Expertise in adolescent development, childhood behavior management, and social work principles Proficiency in behavioral health assessment, mental health counseling techniques, and crisis intervention strategies Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration Experience working with children from diverse cultural backgrounds to foster inclusive support environments Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Skilled in conflict management, social-emotional learning strategies, and culturally responsive counseling approaches Familiarity with guidance counseling best practices, classroom experience, and standardized testing procedures Compassionate approach to childhood development issues such as behavioral challenges or emotional distress Ability to work effectively within a team of educators and mental health professionals to deliver holistic student support Embark on a rewarding career that empowers students through guidance rooted in compassion, expertise, and collaboration.
