In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive guidance and support to students, helping them navigate academic challenges, personal development, and social-emotional well-being. Duties Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on adolescent development, behavioral health, and social-emotional skills. Provide academic advising to help students plan their coursework, prepare for standardized testing, and explore future educational pathways. Support students with special education needs by developing tailored intervention strategies and collaborating with special education staff. Manage behavioral guidance by implementing behavior management plans and conflict resolution techniques to foster a respectful school climate. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, behavioral concerns, and support strategies. Ensure compliance with educational regulations, school policies, and child welfare laws while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Collaborate with teachers, social workers, child protective services, and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive student support services. Conduct assessments related to childhood development, mental health counseling, and behavioral health needs using appropriate tools and techniques. Requirements Bachelor's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid school counselor certification/license as required by local education authorities. Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or social service settings. Strong knowledge of adolescent development, behavioral health issues, special education laws, and educational compliance standards. Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement, team collaboration, and student advocacy. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism. Skills in conflict management, behavior management strategies, and crisis intervention techniques. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures, child protective services protocols, and cultural diversity counseling practices. Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.
