Job Description

Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers and students in core subjects Deliver one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring Support students' social-emotional learning and engagement Assist with planning and leading after-school programs and activities Track student progress and document interventions Collaborate closely with teachers, school staff, and teammates Communicate regularly with supervisors about student needs and successes Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Engage families and community partners as appropriate Uphold City Year and school policies, culture, and values Tutoring and academic support Classroom support and management Youth mentoring Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Cultural competence and DEI awareness Problem-solving and adaptability Time management and organization Program facilitation or group leadership Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident Must pass criminal background checks per AmeriCorps requirements Ability to commit to full-time AmeriCorps service term Fluency in English; bilingual a plus Interest in education, youth development, or social justice
