SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL 2026
Contingent upon funding and adequate enrollment, the Office of Teaching and Learning will provide a high school summer school program for all students in grades 9-12 needing credit recovery opportunities and students entering grade 9. The High School Summer School will run Monday-Friday from July 1st•July 31st at Brockton High School. The number of counselors is dependent on student enrollment. There will be a required training session on a date to be determined prior to the start of the program. The program (student hours) will run from 7:30 am•11:30 pm daily. Counselor hours are 5 hours per day (7:00 am-12:00 pm).
QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate license from the MA DESE Experience as a counselor in middle school and/or high school. Available to provide academic, career, personal and social emotional support each day. Ability to utilize Character Strong and deliver lessons during structured times of the program. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and student mentors to support students and families throughout the program. Prior experience working in a summer program is preferred Must commit to work the entire program and attend training
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide outreach and program information to the identified students and families to aid in registration. Collaboratively plan lessons with other counselors and student mentors that support students' social and emotional development, and aid in their transition to high school. Provide learning opportunities that support the academic, career, social and personal goals of students, 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. Participate in planning and/or supervision while students arrive and eat breakfast. Participate in planning and/or supervision while students are dismissed and eat lunch. Monitor and report student progress Complete and submit documentation forms to the program supervisor, as needed Other duties as directed by the program supervisor
