JOB DESCRIPTION
Works in the K-8 classroom to provide supplemental support to teachers and students. Serves as a main contact support person and advocate for students and families in the METCO program. Serves as an added resource to classroom teachers in providing them with background information and changes that might occur with students and families. Works closely with principals, teachers, and other support staff as an integral member of school staff. Able to provide before, in-school, and after school academic support, including homework assistance to students . Meets with METCO students regularly at school when the students arrive, during lunch and/or recess, after school and other appropriate or scheduled times. Monitors students' attendance on a daily basis. Provides necessary information about the progress of students, and identifies students at risk, to the METCO Director, the METCO Enrichment Program Advisor or METCO Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor as needed. Works closely with the METCO Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor to support and develop discussion groups for students at various grade levels. Is available to attend parent/teacher conferences, METCO Staff meetings, and school clinical, faculty or team meetings when necessary. Attends METCO Parent Meetings and the New Parent Orientations. Salary Per Para Unit Contract, Salary Scale 9B Supervised by METCO Director Evaluated by METCO Director
