Director of Counseling and Guidance, PreK-Age 22 Systemwide 2026-2027
School Year Qualifications:
Massachusetts License, Supervisor/Director, all levels, required. Massachusetts License, Counselor, all levels, required. Master's Degree required. Minimum of five (5) years of school counseling experience, any level K - 12, required. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to work cooperatively with peers. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously. Such other qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate .
Responsibilities:
Leadership Support and lead a talented and professional team of Counselors with the resources and strategies for optimal work performance. Prepare meaningful and collaborative agendas for regular coordination, department, and professional development meetings. Supervise and evaluate identified staff using prescribed district evaluation procedures. Attend and engage in standing administrative meetings as essential to the role; these include Instructional Leadership, Curriculum Council, Department Head meetings, and Coordination Meetings. Participate in routine check-in meetings with the Coordinator , who will be ensuring smooth daily operations within the schools, facilitation of programs and student well-being Participate in routine check-in meetings with the Director of Student Services and principals at each school as scheduled and necessary. Reflect and communicate in a timely manner with colleagues, families, and both professional and community partners. Maintain department level memberships in professional organizations. Guidance Implement career and college planning programs that support students' future goals, decision making, and the importance of staying in school. Provide opportunities for student engagement with appropriate career and college professionals. (career speakers, career fairs, college fairs). Maintain College Board professional development training, programs, and testing.
Includes:
AP audit, AP exam registration, and organizing
SAT/PSAT/AP
testing schedule. Oversee updates with the NCAA Eligibility Center, update high school course listings, and upload student transcripts into their portal. Counseling Ensure all students have equal opportunities to engage in appropriate counseling services at all grade levels. Align school counseling programs with multi-tiered systems of support, interventions, and monitoring, employing visionary thinking that supports current programming and guides new program development. Align counseling strategies and programming with ASCA and DESE guidelines related to mental health support services in schools. Develop and utilize community resources for departmental needs; engage with colleagues and community members on current and new initiatives. Remain current with new developments in counseling practice through readings, conferences, and other means of professional learning as well as disseminate information to colleagues in a timely manner. Programs Collaborate with district and school administrators to ensure continuity and integrity of student service continuum (e.g., school transitions, course registration, credit recovery, family information sessions, etc.). Ensure district compliance with 504 accommodation plans. Coordinate home/hospital tutoring for students. Collect, analyze, interpret, and use data to inform and measure program effectiveness. Conduct other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent or Director of Student Services.
