Job Description

THE ROLE

The Education Cooperative seeks an Interim School Adjustment Counselor for the TEC Phoenix Academy (TAP) at its 111 Robbins Road campus in Walpole currently serving students in grades 6-12

ORGANIZATION

The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 19 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner.

TEC Phoenix Academy is a DESE approved public day school that is designed for students in Grades K-2 and 6-12 with academic, emotional and/or behavioral challenges that necessitate a small, structured educational setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide direct clinical services to students on caseload in alignment with their IEPs
  • Consult and collaborate daily with program staff in order to support development of students' academic and behavioral skills
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers to ensure an effective partnership between home and school
  • Liaison with sending districts and community providers
  • Provide risk assessments
  • Maintain and document relevant student data
  • Complete all required IEP paperwork in alignment with established timelines
  • Actively participate in special education team meetings
  • Assist the Program Director in the intake of student referrals
  • Participate in staff and other professional development meetings, conferences and other training, such as Safety Care
  • Ability to drive vans as needed
  • Other relevant duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, & SKILL
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Knowledge of special education laws and procedures
  • Skilled at working with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs and/or a trauma history
  • Expertise and commitment to creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, supportive, and appropriately challenging for all students
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to think proactively and respond flexibly
  • Able to exhibit a calm, supportive demeanor in the face of unexpected situations or behavior
  • Adept at building strong relationships with students, their families and other community members
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a professional team
  • Technological proficiency
  • having the necessary skills to produce and maintain reports and communicate electronically
  • Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize assessment and other data
  • Ability to work under time restraints and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

$314 to $423 Per Day
