Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as an Academic Counselor on a full-time contract assignment. Two positions are available for the upcoming academic year. This opportunity is perfect for skilled professionals focused on student development and guidance, eager to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational environment. Your role will center on supporting high schoolers' academic growth and success while fostering a supportive school community. The contract runs from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Active Michigan teaching certificate with current School Counselor Endorsement (please ensure your license and certifications are up-to-date and listed on your application) Prior experience working with high school students in an academic counseling or guidance capacity preferred Strong communication, listening, and organizational skills Ability to build rapport and trust with students navigating academic and personal challenges Team-oriented mindset and commitment to positive educational outcomes
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individualized academic guidance, scheduling, and college/career planning for high school students Support and empower students through transitional periods, course selections, and goal-setting processes Serve as a resource for families, teachers, and staff regarding students' academic progress and well-being Maintain detailed and confidential student records Collaborate with school leadership and fellow counselors to enhance student support services This contract is full time and offers the rewarding experience of guiding students through pivotal years.
