Per diem $170 with increase/retroactive to collective bargaining agreement after 40 days.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid NYS School Counselor Certification Knowledge of comprehensive School Counseling Program requirements and demonstrated ability to provide preventive, remedial and responsive services Strong counselor competencies to address academic, career and personal/social development of high school students Proven leadership, advocacy, collaboration, and data analysis Strong verbal and written communication skills Is enthusiastic, flexible and committed to students reaching high learning standards Consistent communication with parents using a variety of strategies and demonstrated responsiveness to family, student and staff concerns Familiarity with the use of technology necessary for success as a school counselor Ability to focus on the goal of improving student achievement and attendance, as well as provide the necessary behavioral support to students and create the changes necessary to impact school climate Student advocate who promotes, assesses, and implements the Comprehensive Pre-K - 12 School Counseling Plan Experience with disaggregated data to drive the achievement gap and to help strong students excel further Use of data-driven decision making to evaluate and modify practice based on results to ensure that every student achieves Ability to function collaboratively as a part of a team with families, students, student support team colleagues, teachers and administrators Actively participates as a team member during meetings with faculty, staff and administration to collaborate on reaching school and district mission, vision and goals Familiarity with counseling practices and services aligned with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA), the ASCA National Model and the expectations of the New York State Education Department Familiarity with best practices for DEI, as well as Restorative Practices preferred Familiarity with master scheduling preferred Provide educational counseling and skill development with the individual and small groups of students Demonstrated ability to manage student emotional, social and academic needs, and maintain accurate records of student attendance, conduct and academic performance Other Duties as assigned by building principal
