We service approximately 8,000 students and are dedicated to providing an education for all students. Our students represent our whole community and we value the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of our student body. We've invested in new technology and many up-to-date text books and tools for our teachers and other staff. Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor's of Art with licensure in School Counseling and five (5) years of previous counseling experience. Candidate must be experienced in working with urban youth and have knowledge and experience with urban schooling. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of scheduling, credit checks, common core requirements, data entry, DASL and Progress book or similar expertise. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides counseling opportunities for all students Assists students in making educational and vocational choices Provides crisis intervention Provides opportunities for parental conferences Performs other duties as assigned As set forth in our negotiated agreement, counselors work 183 days per year with a possibility of extended days.
