An Academic or Guidance Counselor provides guidance to students in elementary, middle and high schools to help them succeed academically and socially. Works with school teachers and administrators to address problems that affect student performance, and identifies resources for students and families. Helps high school students to plan academic course work and advises on the college search and application process.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree High School Diploma or equivalent Current School Guidance Counselor Certification from Ohio Department of Education Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards and district policies related to assigned functions Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of district staff, students, parents, and the general public Effective verbal and written communication skills and able to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner Ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, deal with the concerns of staff/students/parents in a timely manner and resolve problem situations in a positive manner Willingness/ability to work as a team member Good organizational skills Valid driver's license and access to a personally insured vehicle during business hours Satisfactory report from Criminal Records check Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record Adheres to school, district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws Equal Employment Opportunity Statement The Edgewood School District Board does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or genetic information in employment or provision of services.
