Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Counselor to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide counseling services and support to cadets to promote personal growth, improve retention, and help them identify their life/career goals. This position is also responsible for conducting individual and group counseling sessions for the program youth and prepares students to transition to placement immediately following completion of the program. Also provides classroom instruction of job skills and life coping skills curriculum.
Essential Functions:
Under supervision of the Lead counselor, conduct individual, group and crisis counseling to positively affect retention of cadets and to identify their life/career goals. Provides daily feedback on cadets progress to supervisor. Provide individual counseling and group guidance in the areas of life coping skills, drug and alcohol education, character education, as well as individual/personal issues. Assist with retention of cadets as needed Coordinate and schedule guest speakers and field trips appropriate to counseling group subject matter Attend educational, institutional and department meetings and trainings as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to handle confidential information; exercise sound judgement in interpreting and applying rules or policy. Internet and computer skills for program database entry.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS in counseling, education or related field required. Masters and Licensure (LPC/LBP) preferred Licenses/ Certificates required : LPC/LBP preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
Conditions of Employment:

This position is located in Pryor, OK Oklahoma Employment eligibility verified through e-Verify (Homeland Security), and a National Agency Check for positions that require computer access. This position requires travel in and out of state with overnight stays. Travel may be required at the expense of the Employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
