Work primarily consists of accessing generator fluid systems, draining and replacing lubricants and coolants, cleaning cooling systems, and completing related routine maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer procedures, site requirements, and established safety practices.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform routine preventive maintenance on large stationary diesel generators.
Open and close generator access panels, caps, valves, drains, and other service points necessary to access fluid systems.
Drain used engine coolant, lubricants, and other maintenance fluids into appropriate containers.
Refill generator systems with approved replacement coolant, lubricants, and other specified fluids.
Perform cooling-system cleaning and flushing procedures.
Use Fleetguard Restore Plus Acid Cooling System Cleaner as part of the cooling-system maintenance process.
Follow manufacturer instructions and applicable Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements when handling cleaning chemicals, coolants, lubricants, and other maintenance products.
Connect and disconnect hoses, pumps, drain lines, containers, and related fluid-transfer equipment as necessary.
Inspect accessible generator components and fluid systems for leaks, damage, abnormal conditions, or maintenance concerns.
Use hand tools and standard maintenance equipment required to access and service generator systems.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and promptly clean spills or residue in accordance with site procedures.
Collect, contain, label, and handle used fluids and maintenance materials as directed by the facility.
Follow all data center access, security, environmental, and safety procedures.
Complete required maintenance documentation and communicate equipment concerns to project supervision.
Perform other directly related generator preventive-maintenance duties within the technician's training and qualifications.
Chemical and Environmental ExposureTechnicians will handle industrial maintenance fluids and chemicals, including Fleetguard Restore Plus Acid Cooling System Cleaner, diesel-generator coolant, lubricating fluids, and related maintenance products.
Work involving Restore Plus will be performed in areas providing ventilation appropriate for the product and task. Final work-area configuration and site-specific ventilation requirements will be established prior to mobilization.
Technicians may encounter wet or slippery surfaces, fluid residue, mechanical equipment, hoses, containers, tools, and other typical industrial-maintenance conditions.
Personal Protective EquipmentRequired PPE will include, at minimum, appropriate:
Protective glovesProtective clothingSafety glasses, goggles, and/or face protection appropriate to the taskSafety footwearAny additional PPE required by the facility, equipment manufacturer, chemical SDS, or specific maintenance procedureSite-specific PPE requirements will be finalized prior to the start of work.
Physical RequirementsThe position requires the ability to:
Stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work around generator equipment.
Use hands and arms to operate tools, open access points, connect hoses, and perform fluid-service tasks.
Lift, carry, position, and maneuver tools, hoses, containers, and maintenance supplies.
Work around large stationary industrial equipment.
Safely perform repetitive manual maintenance activities throughout the workday.
Minimum QualificationsTraining, certification, and/or demonstrated qualification to perform maintenance on large commercial or industrial diesel generators.
Previous experience servicing large diesel engines, generator systems, or comparable industrial equipment.
Knowledge of routine preventive maintenance procedures, including coolant and lubricant servicing.
Ability to safely use hand tools and fluid-transfer equipment.
Ability to read and follow equipment instructions, maintenance procedures, safety requirements, and Safety Data Sheets.
Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and chemical maintenance products.
Ability to comply with facility security and access requirements.
