Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity. Student Support Services is seeking an Academic Counselor/Program Services Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO project of the U.S. Department of Education. Its purpose is to increase the retention and graduation rates of low ie, first generation and students with a documented disability by providing aprehensive program of academic support services tailored to individual needs; and as appropriate, facilitate the transfer, graduate, or professional school process. The Academic Counselor/Program Services Coordinator supports the implementation of all project activities and aids the Project Director in facilitating project tasks. Primary responsibilities of the job involve assisting with the overall implementation of the project grant, Tutor hiring and supervision, and representing the program well to students and the public. This position is a full-time 12-month position. The Academic Counselor/Program Services Coordinator reports to the Director of TRIO Student Support Services. Why OSU? Key Responsibilities 50% - Academic Counseling Provide direct professional academic counseling to diverse population of students who are first generation in college, Pell-eligible and students with documented disabilities. Provide opportunities for academic growth and development and assist students with basic college requirements. Serve to motivate students toward the successfulpletion of their post-secondary education. Work towards increasing college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. Provide ongoing support throughout a student's college career by promoting development through advocacy and by providing resource connections, exploration of experiential learning opportunities as well as advising to help students connect their skills, abilities, and interests with their academic and career goals. Maintainplete records on the academic progress of each student; submit end-of-term summary for each student. Coordinate with advisors in each student's major concerning progress toward their degree. 30% Participant Record Maintenance & Project Facilitation Maintains student records in program database according to federal guidelines and assures confidentiality of records. Tracks student's participation and notifies students if they are at risk of being "bumped" from the program for lack of program participation. Assists with recruitment and admitting program participants and assists with training sessions for students admitted into the program. Facilitates scheduling, agenda, preparation of materials, registration, etc. for program activities including pre-registration, orientation, and special events. 5% Program Budgeting Duties Assists the Director with monitoring/maintaining the program budgets. Complies with federal requirements by tracking expenditures through an applicable category, e.g., travel, office administration, supplies, reference books/materials, duplicating, postage, minor equipment, major equipment, data processing, student wage, academic wages, and staff wages. Reconciles budget records with reports from Research Accounting. Provides reports to the Project Director regarding status of operating funds. Processes budget changes. 5% Tutor Hiring and Supervision Responding and fulfilling tutor subject matter requests Selection and training of tutors in program requirements and professionalism Supervision of tutors 10% Additional Duties Coordinates annual inventory of equipment. Assists in planning the

Summer Bridge Program for iing SSS participants during fall term, including development of intended oues and assessment plan, development of curriculum, development of housing plan and agreements/contracts with UHDS and recruiting student staff to help with the bridge program that takes place before classes begin. Participate in academic counseling meetings as well as SSS staff meetings. Participate in collaborative programs and initiatives of the Division and expand and enhance culturalpetency and diversity efforts in the program, the division, and the university. Work with other TRIO staff to plan TRIO Day event. Other job appropriate duties as assigned by the Director (i.e. input student documentation, support program outreach efforts, attend training when necessary) What You Will Need Bachelors degree in a field relevant to the position Experience working to support the needs of low-ie, first generation students, individuals with disabilities, culturally diverse populations and students needing developmental education. Commitment to a developmental philosophy and a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population. Able to independently research and problem solve. Able to develop and/or maintain aprehensive electronic filing system in the program database. Able to manage multiple projects. Able to work as part of a team and independently. Able to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds, ability levels, and opinions. Advanced word processingputer skills (knowledge of Program databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Banner, Google Suites, Box, Zoom, etc.), note taking, problem solving skills, use of standard office machines, customer service attitude, and excellentmunication skills which include the ability to resolveplaints/issues, etc. Skill and sensitivity to work with persons from various ethnic groups and with varied disabilities.
