Job Description

At Pitt-Bradford, student success is at the heart of what we do. We're seeking an Academic Coach who's eager to support, inspire, and guide students on their academic journey. Job Summary Utilizes basic advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small, routine projects. Essential Functions Establish one on one relationships with students to support academic success and facilitate an environment that encourages a sense of belonging. Works with students to provide academic coaching and advocacy, including assessment of academic needs. Support students with improving time management, creating an organizational system and developing study skills. Monitors student performance and resolves student issues with the implementation of academic resources and/or programs. Develop workshops and small group activities on issues that negatively impact their academic success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a genuine interest in coaching and mentoring students Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse student population Strong organizational skills and follow-through in managing an active caseload A proactive, solution focused approach to problem solving and supporting students through setbacks Willingness and ability to learn new advising, coaching, or intervention strategies on the job Physical Effort Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally. The University of Pittsburgh is an equal opportunity employer / disability / veteran.
