Primary Purpose:

The mission of the High School Counselor is to provide a comprehensive identification, prevention, and intervention process for students identified as at-risk of dropping out of school or struggling with persisting on a CTE, College, Career, or Military track.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree from an accredited university, counseling preferred Valid Texas school counseling certification; SBEC or in process of obtaining

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of appropriate strategies for transforming behaviors, beliefs, and habits that put students at risk of not graduating from high school Ability to communicate effectively with youth, adults, and members of the community Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies Knowledge of and the ability to analyze data Ability to identify, access, and utilize the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students at risk of not graduating Knowledge of alternative opportunities for reclaiming high school credits Knowledge of CTE Pathways Knowledge of CCMR Indicators and accountability Knowledge of graduation plans and requirements Must be familiar with Texas criteria for identifying At-Risk students, IDEA and Section 504 requirements, Texas Education Code, American School Counselors Ethical Code

Experience:

3 years of school counseling and/or administrative experience preferred Hutto ISD Talent Management & Personnel Support Hutto ISD Pay Scales & Start Stop Calendar
