K-8 School Counselor for Neurodiverse Population 1432 15th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122 $72,869.62 - $100,731.53 a year - Full-time $72,869.62 - $100,731.53 a year - Full-time Company Overview The Academy for Precision Learning (APL) is a K-12 school dedicated to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and individualized learning environment for neurodiverse students, the majority of whom have autism. Our focus is on fostering academic achievement and social development through tailored, data-informed experiences that empower each student to reach their full potential. Overview APL is seeking a compassionate, skilled School Counselor to support our K-8 students through a strong, integrated approach to social-emotional learning and mental health. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience working with neurodiverse learners and a strong understanding of the intersection of autism and mental health. You will provide a mix of direct student support (individual and small group counseling) and classroom-based SEL instruction, while partnering closely with educators, clinicians, and families to ensure every student thrives. Duties Provide individual counseling to support students' emotional well-being, self-awareness, and school success Design and deliver engaging SEL lessons in classrooms (K-8) Facilitate small groups focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and peer relationships Apply expertise in the overlap between autism and mental health to tailor supports and interventions Partner with teachers and staff to implement inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practices Participate in MTSS, 504, and IEP processes as a collaborative team member Support students and families through crisis response, care coordination, and resource referrals Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling (or related field) 2+ years of school-based counseling experience (K-8 preferred) Experience working with autistic students and diverse learning profiles Strong skills in SEL instruction and counseling across developmental levels Deep understanding of mental health in neurodiverse populations Commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, and student-centered practices Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills At APL, you'll join a mission-driven team dedicated to serving neurodiverse learners through innovative, inclusive practices.
