Through dynamic, inquiry-based learning, Villa students become active agents of their own intellectual growth in preparation for lives of service and purpose. Villa Academy seeks a full-time School Counselor for the 2026-27 academic year , with a start date of August 18, 2026 (or thereafter; fall 2026 start date negotiable) . The successful School Counselor will be a grounded, experienced professional who is passionate about the social and emotional development of children. They will join the Villa Counseling Team, consisting of another full-time School Counselor and the Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center, to work with students, families, and school staff to advocate for, facilitate, and provide equitable access to opportunities that support the social and emotional development of students in Villa's Preschool through 8th Grade. They will enjoy professional development support, opportunities for growth, and the chance to shape and build upon our dynamic program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build positive relationships with students and families in all grades, PS-8. Partner with teachers and Villa's Counseling Team in planning, supporting, and delivering social-emotional instruction. Counsel individuals and groups to address the needs of students. Participate as a member of the Student Support Team to address student key student and family needs including learning differences, behavior challenges, anxiety, divorce/other family life changes, and grief, and to develop appropriate accommodation plans. Assist with parent/caregiver education and serve as a resource for families. Collaborate with teachers and administrators regarding student and family issues that impact student learning. Attend and support students during field trips, overnight trips, recess, and other school activities. Maintain appropriate resources for the Villa community and partner with community-based child and family services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in school counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university. Current School Counseling license is preferred. Knowledge of child and adolescent development, social and emotional development, counseling models, and strategies A commitment to Villa Academy's mission, vision, and values. A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth. Experience in a school setting is preferred. Background or experience in independent schools is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners. Ability to think critically, make sound decisions, communicate effectively, remain composed in challenging situations, and build positive, trusting relationships with others.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Anticipated salary ranges between $85,000 - $106,000/year, dependent upon education and experience .
