Job Description
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to have flexible hours to support school events outside of the school day like parent connection efforts such as Open House, Launch Conferences, Feeder pattern nights, etc...
- Willing to shift hours to accommodate school and student needs
- Excels at supporting students in homework center
- Expert at communicating clearly and effectively with all stakeholders with a focus on student success
- Ability to integrate effectively into a highly collaborative team who moves at a rapid pace
- Collaborate closely with School Community Specialist to find appropriate services for the student
- Focus on attendance and improving academic outcomes Experience working with high-risk students and families with ACEs
- Experience working with high school students Experience with restorative practices and
PBIS Hours/Day:
7 Temporary Role through: 2026-27 School Year Daily Start/End times: 9:00 AM- 4:30
PM Anticipated Start Date:
ASAP Benefits- Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.
SALARY:
Level 21 on the Educational Support Specialist Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school.DOWNLOAD SALARY SCHEDULE
Request data from the attendance office to identify students, with patterns of absenteeism or tardiness. Identify, connect, and build relationships of trust with the student and family community. Attend and participate in community events for students and families. Connect with District staff to identify strategies to reduce tardiness and improve academic performance for identified students. Intervene with strategies to reduce tardiness and improve academic performance for identified students. Work with teachers to understand the student's needs. Coordinate with counselor and other school specialists to find appropriate services to meet the identified needs. Connect students and families to District staff, to coordinate resources provided to the school site and community; including primary health, mental health, arts, recreation, afterschool, and other resources. Connect parents to resource for developing skill for supporting the social/academic needs of students. Develop positive relationships with families, District staff, and community organizations with the focus on providing academic and social supports for students. Attend and network with families during parent connection efforts, such as Open House, student led conferences, parent workshops, and community events. Gain knowledge of the College Bound Scholarship program and support students through the enrollment process. Gather information about the impact of interventions. Make adjustments to interventions when necessary. Willingness to work before or after school hours, when necessary. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed. GED or high school diploma; some college preferred. Demonstrated ability and proficiency to speak, write, comprehend, and translate both English and identified language. Demonstrate cultural competence in both US culture and cultures of the identified student subset. Demonstrated ability to interact positively and in a professional manner with a diverse group of students, parents, staff, and community members in a confidential manner. Ability to relate positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive programs and activities. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both written and oral form. Experience with computers and software such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and/or publishing software. When employees meet plan requirements and retire, they are guaranteed a monthly benefit for the rest of their life from the employer-funded pension. Employees can also participate in voluntary savings programs to increase retirement savings such as the DRS Deferred Compensation Program or by participating in a 403(b- retirement plan through the district's plan manager, OMNI.
