Job Description

Job Title -
CTE Career Coach Supervisor:
Director Career Technical Education, Principal Job Goal:
To provide career development guidance for Jefferson County School System students. To encourage and assist with career awareness, career guidance and career instruction in all system secondary schools and to assist schools in meeting accountability career readiness targets.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, marketing communication or a related field from an accredited educational institution. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Knowledge of workplace readiness skills, Alabama College and Career Readiness Standards, and current employment trends. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including students, parents, employers, and community agencies. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement with transition assessments. Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, administrators and others. Ability to solve problems as a productive team member. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Represents the Career Coach Program in local high schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote CTE programs. Provides career development guidance for high school students with emphasis on technical programs. Plans and implements student recruitment activities for technical programs. Assists prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments. Assists prospective students with admissions, financial aid and registration procedures of college, technical schools, or post-secondary programs. Provides guidance to students regarding career choices. Conducts high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities, describing job market and career trends, and answering career related questions. Schedules and attends college campus tours and industry tours with high school students. Coordinates job shadowing opportunities for students. Maintains an ongoing and accurate database of students and classrooms served and participating in programs. Collaborates with Job Coaches, Career Technical Education personnel, and other school personnel to plan and implement work experiences for students as appropriate. Serves as system representative as assigned at workforce development conferences, seminars, committee meetings or other related gatherings. Manages time effectively. Interprets and uses data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation. Communicates high learning expectations for all students. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Models high ethical standards and uses sound professional judgment. Responds to inquiries and requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner, using technology or other means as directed. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system. Uses collaboration skills to work as a productive team member. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
