Position Summary This is an AT-WILL position for which the attainment of non-probationary status (tenure) is not available . Grant funded; Continued employment is contingent upon funding. The Talent Search Academic Advisor identifies eligible middle and high school students to participate in the Talent Search program. The advisor will emphasize to participants the importance of completing high school and continuing their education beyond high school. Continued employment is contingent upon funding. This position is not eligible for non-probationary status.

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.

•5:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate the delivery of Talent Search services to project participants Maintain an approachable and accessible relationship with participants and target school staff Assist participants with navigating through the challenges of education Assist participants with developing proactive academic/career strategies and success goals Address academic, personal, career, and non-cognitive barriers Provide academic and career advising and support Work with project Tutors and Mentors to assure student success Develop and conduct seminars/workshops on relevant academic, career, financial aid and financial literacy topics Provide academic and financial aid advising Assist with scholarship, financial aid, and college application documents Continually assess and document the progress of project participants Serve as advocate for disadvantaged students Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE A

minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years' work experience in education, counseling or similar field is required. Experience working with Federal programs and working with low-income, first generation, and/or disabled students, or having a background similar to those in the target population preferred.
