Job Description

The Part-time Truck Driving Instructional Aid will assist the truck driving instructor in the day-to-day operations of the Truck Driving Program. The Truck Driving Instructional Aide will also assist the instructor in maintaining a safe, organized, and effective learning environment and perform other duties related to the operation of the Truck Driving Program.

Works Hours:

Varies, up to 19 per week. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. A complete application consists of the following: An on-line application Current resume Copy of college transcripts, high school diploma, or equivalent (Transcript of college work verifying degree requirement; must include degree awarded and date confirmed. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed. If no college transcript, a copy of your high school diploma or equivalent should be uploaded.) An on-line application Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Teach classes/truck driving as assigned. Classes/truck driving may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend and at any campus/instructional site deemed necessary. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Maintain Class A license with a passenger, double/triple, and tank endorsements. Endorsements must be obtained before third-party testing school. Request material, equipment, and supplies as needed for the truck-driving program. Assist students as an advisor in developing class schedules, program planning, and career counseling. Maintain updated course syllabi for all courses taught and provide a syllabus to all students enrolled in the class. Each faculty member will adhere to the course syllabus and plans of instruction. Review and recommend revision of curriculum periodically and provide input to the college-wide curriculum committee. Assist in the development of course offerings and schedules each term. Provide input for Annual Needs Assessment. Maintain and submit all required documentation such as job placement, employer information, and retention. Maintain all records as needed for the instructional program and the college. Provide library information to students. Recommend library additions to enhance coursework. Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the college community. Adhere to prescribed procedures in all financial operations of the program. Maintain safe practices in classrooms and truck driving. Actively recruit students for the program and the College. Compile and dispense necessary reports in a timely manner. Participate in the planning and budgeting processes for the truck-driving program. Assist in enforcing all college policies. Assist in the coordination of the institutional effectiveness plan. Attend faculty and staff meetings. Participate in approved professional development activities through professional organizations, seminars, and programs designed to maintain and improve skills. EXPERIENCE A

minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required . An associate degree from applicable discipline area or equivalent is preferred. Documentation of appropriate infield work experience and current Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required . Experience in maintaining tractor and trailer units is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom including internet, e-mail, and computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Demonstrated expertise in the subject area. Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction. An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college system. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Assist in the development of discipline-specific student learning outcome objectives. Commitment to all students, including those of diverse ages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds. Successful problem-solving skills. Willingness and desire to learn new things and apply that learning, including teaching pedagogy and new software, as required. A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand. Confidence in decision making and communication skills.
