HOMELESS OUTREACH SPECIALIST

107Hourly Salary Range:
$24.326923 - $35.865385 The successful candidate's placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role. The City of Tempe offers a comprehensive benefits package including: 13 Paid Holidays and 1 Personal Day Vacation Accrual starts at 9.33 hours/month. RC#902460 DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
This position provides information and resources for shelter, detox, substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health services, case management, and housing solutions to the homeless and other vulnerable individuals in need. Offers transportation services to detox facilities, hospital and doctor's appointments, and shelter locations. Assists individuals in obtaining personal legal documents such as IDs, social security cards, and birth certificates. Duties include, but are not limited to the following Responds to community requests for services and resources regarding homelessness received by the Care/HOPE line or via email. Assist individuals experiencing homelessness complete applications and referrals for appropriate housing options and shelters. Conducts daily field outreach, directly speaking with individuals experiencing homelessness. Assist clients in obtaining vital documents and health documentation. Coordinates solutions for individuals seeking transportation, medical, and other primary care support. Collaborates with City departments to address issues related to unsheltered individuals and provides ongoing communication to neighborhood groups, businesses, and other affected parties regarding homelessness issues and resources. Manage documentation of engagements and regional housing coordination in electronic systems. Track encampments, inputting details on individuals and documenting interactions. May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in homeless outreach, social services or related experience Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.Education:
