This position will be expected to provide advocacy for individuals with IDD (clients) to ensure their rights are protected, needs are met, voices are heard, and that our clients receive fair and just treatment and equal representation while navigating through various social service systems. An ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and The Arc's business both inside the office and in the community is critical.
Job Responsibilities:
Core Functions Represent our agency's efforts in the 8th Judicial District Competency Docket by serving as the primary point of contact to support client access and coordination. Assist clients and their family/friend support system in understanding their choices, their rights as individuals, the services and opportunities that are available to them and the potential implications of any of their decisions. Build cooperative problem-solving approaches around the interest of clients with others in the community including their family, personal support systems and service providers. Be knowledgeable and stay current about laws, rules and regulations that provide protection, resources, services, and support to individuals with disabilities by attending regular professional development opportunities. Translate individual client needs into systems‑level insights to improve policies, procedures, and service delivery. Provide and develop workshops, in-services, and training on topics of general interest to people with disabilities and their families. Contribute articles to the newsletter periodically. Mentor, support, and collaborate with other staff members, interns, and volunteers, as appropriate. Always represent The Arc's values and beliefs in a fair and effective manner and during all community interactions. Administrative Maintain all client information and records according to agency policies and procedures; record all documentation needed to demonstrate the results of activities as they relate to desired outcomes; regular reporting to Advocacy Manager regarding challenges. Provide monthly status reports on advocacy impacts. Qualifications
• A minimum of two years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities working with people with IDD required.
• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation, sociology, or a closely related field preferred but not required. Must have reliable transportation to and from work and around the county area. Knowledge of resources available to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Colorado and Larimer County.
Compensation:
starting from $26-28 per hour with increases in compensation as knowledge and experience expand, and training occurs that substantively and specifically improves job performance.

Physical Requirements:
This job operates in a professional office environment. It requires the routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job requires travel throughout Larimer County Colorado. This position also requires occasional travel within the State of Colorado and out of state to attend national conferences and/or meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit at a desk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee also must be able to lift and carry up to thirty pounds (e.g., props, training materials, etc.) when necessary to set up for training/events whether onsite or offsite.
