10/10/2026 Norwich Free Academy (NFA) is accepting applications for the position of LEAP Engagement Specialist to support the Learning, Engagement, and Attendance Program (LEAP). This grant-funded, part-time position ( 14
  • 20 hours per week during the school year) is responsible for building relationships with identified students and families, conducting home visits, providing resources, and addressing barriers to student success.
The position works closely with House Principals, support teams, and the LEAP Coordinators to foster family engagement and improve student attendance. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with families, students, or community engagement initiatives, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or English/Creole) and flexibility to work evenings or weekends are highly desirable .
Performance Responsibilities:
Complete
LEAP 101
training and participate in ongoing program development activities. Maintain an active caseload of families engaged in the LEAP process. Schedule and conduct home visits to establish trust and deliver supportive resources to families. Document all visits and contacts in the electronic Home Visitor Log. Meet bi-weekly with the LEAP Coordinators to review progress and update plans. Deliver LEAP program materials and NFA school information to families. Engage families on topics related to attendance, school resources, and student success. Make outreach calls to identified students and families to foster positive, supportive relationships. Work collaboratively with House Principals and NFA support teams to address barriers to attendance and achievement. Track and report on family engagement and program outcomes as required by the grant. Perform other duties as assigned by the LEAP Coordinator or NFA administration.
Additional Working Conditions:
Frequent travel to student homes and community locations within the NFA service area. Regular use of phone, email, and computer systems (provided by Norwich Free Academy.) Flexible schedule to accommodate family availability outside of traditional school hours. Occasional requirement to lift materials up to 20 pounds.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience working with families, students, or community engagement initiatives strongly preferred. Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish or English/Creole) are highly desirable. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and maintain accurate records. Basic proficiency with electronic recordkeeping systems and communication tools. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Familiarity with Norwich Free Academy and local community resources is a plus. Hourly Rate:
