Full-Time; FLSA classification to be confirmed Join Our Team as an Employment and Training Specialist Are you a passionate, dynamic professional committed to empowering the next generation of leaders? The Teen Warehouse is seeking an Employment and Training Specialist to support the successful implementation and management of the RISE program. This position combines curriculum development, instruction, career coaching, employer engagement, job placement, and program evaluation to help youth ages 14-24 build the skills and connections needed for long-term success. What You'll Do The Employment and Training Specialist manages the facilitation of employability-skills training and coaching for youth ages 14-24. The position supports evidence-based, accountable programming in character and leadership development, education and technology, and career development development. The Employment and Training Specialist works closely with the Senior Employment and Training Specialist, Program Manager, Navigational Coaches, employers, training providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery and the achievement of desired outcomes. Youth Training and Skill Development Develop curriculum and lead job-training activities, workshops, and employability-skills programs. Develop and implement employment and training procedures, policies, and forms. Provide instruction on job-search techniques, workplace expectations and etiquette, professional communication, resume and cover-letter development, and interview preparation. Provide individual job coaching to help participants identify their interests, strengths, and career goals. Collaborate with training providers, educational institutions, and industry partners to connect participants with training opportunities aligned with labor-market needs. Support participant recruitment, screening, intake, eligibility determination, and enrollment. Collaborate with the Senior Employment and Training Specialist on new and expanded workforce initiatives and employment-related events. Instruction and Facilitation Administer and interpret career-exploration and assessment tools, including O
•NET, to help participants identify potential career pathways. Facilitate employability-skills courses in areas that may include problem-solving, conflict resolution, restorative practices, social-emotional learning, customer service, and sales. Work with employers to identify in-demand skills and incorporate those skills into training courses. Develop and implement occupational-skills and soft-skills training modules. Collaborate with Navigational Coaches to place participants in appropriate work experiences and employment opportunities. Coordinate participant orientations, job fairs, community events, and recognition and incentive activities. Job Placement and Employer Relations Build and maintain relationships with employers to create job-placement, externship, internship, apprenticeship, and job-shadowing opportunities. Maintain an active network of employment opportunities for program participants. Coordinate interviews and follow up with employers and participants to support successful placements. Help participants address barriers to employment by connecting them with appropriate resources and support. Promote workforce diversity and inclusion in collaboration with employer partners. Network with businesses, nonprofits, schools, government offices, and community organizations to strengthen services and address community needs. Data Management and Program Evaluation Track participant progress, services, placements, and program outcomes. Enter accurate and timely information into Delaware JobLink and Apricot. Maintain complete and organized participant records and conduct file audits. Administer program evaluations and assessments, including surveys and environmental scans. Analyze program delivery, customer service, effectiveness, and progress toward program objectives. Help ensure compliance with grant requirements, organizational procedures, and program-performance measures. Use program data to identify opportunities for improvement and support data-informed decisions. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibility. The Employment and Training Specialist may coordinate with staff, service providers, and community partners to support program delivery but does not directly supervise employees. What We're Looking For Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of two years of experience working with youth in a social-service or educational setting. Experience developing or facilitating workforce-development or training programs preferred. Familiarity with Wilmington's employment landscape and community resources preferred. Skills and Abilities Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish trusting relationships with youth, employers, community partners, and colleagues. Strong initiative, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with close attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database-management systems, and project-management applications. Ability to analyze information, evaluate possible solutions, and make data-informed recommendations. Cultural sensitivity and openness to constructive feedback. Ability to maintain integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Ability to supervise staff and providers and provide guidance through both direct and influence-based leadership. Ability to support budget oversight and tracking. Work Environment and Requirements Schedule:
Full-time. General working hours are Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m . The position may also require daytime and weekend work based on program needs.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although occasional out-of-area or overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in office, classroom, and community settings. The position requires the ability to use computers and instructional equipment, move throughout program spaces, facilitate workshops, and lift or move up to 20 pounds. Community-based work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and varying noise levels. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship. First Aid/CPR certification preferred at hire and required within the first 60 days of employment.
