POSITION SUMMARY
Community Rightful Center provides a comprehensive range of health, social and vocational services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout South Florida. Under the direction of the Employment Services Manager, the Employment Specialist will help our clients identify their desired career goals; develop their vocational skills; and assist, support and guide them toward gainful employment and the achievement of their goals. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct targeted outreach to engage individuals at risk for or experiencing substance use disorders, providing education on substance abuse, HIV, and STD prevention.
- Identify client needs and facilitate timely referrals to substance abuse treatment programs, detox services, counseling, and supportive resources.
- Coordinate and manage client appointments for substance abuse treatment, HIV, and STD testing services.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners to strengthen referral networks and improve access to substance abuse services.
- Assist with client intake, flow, and coordination to ensure seamless access to care and support services.
- Provide pre- and post-test counseling with an emphasis on the intersection of substance use and HIV/STD risk, transmission, and prevention.
- Accurately complete assessments, referral documentation, lab requisitions, and all required reports.
- Collect and process oral specimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Support data entry, track referrals, and assist in preparing monthly program reports.
- Link HIV-positive clients to medical care and ensure engagement in treatment, with attention to co-occurring substance use needs.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential environment following universal safety precautions and program standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and ongoing training to enhance outreach and referral effectiveness.
- Conduct evening and night outreach activities to reach high-risk populations.
- Maintain required certifications, including HIV 500 and 501, and HIV Counselor certification.
- Must place a minimum of 15-20 client referrals monthly .
Qualifications Associate degree or bachelor's or master's degree. You must have automobiles, valid driver's license, auto insurance and a good driving record. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Minimum 1 year of human-service experience Must possess good written and verbal communication skills. Must present self in a professional manner. Must be able to work maturely with confidential information. Ability to prioritize and organize work under minimal supervision. Basic computer knowledge/literacy required Must complete and successfully pass State background check and AHCA clearance Physical Requirements Ability to travel throughout the service area for outreach activities. Ability to stand, walk, and transport outreach supplies during community events. Ability to lift and carry outreach materials Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions. Work Environment This position requires work in office settings, community-based locations, mobile outreach events, healthcare facilities, and other community venues. The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends and nights to support community outreach and HIV prevention activities.
