Job Description

As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, helping students build academic skills, confidence, and social-emotional strengths. You will provide daily mentoring, small-group tutoring, and classroom support, while collaborating closely with teachers and school staff. In this role, you'll track student progress, engage families, and contribute to a positive school climate. City Year offers robust training, coaching, and professional development in a collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on equity, leadership, and student success. Responsibilities Provide daily in-school mentoring and coaching to students to support academic, social, and emotional growth Collaborate with teachers to implement targeted interventions and classroom support Track student progress using data and adjust support plans as needed Facilitate small-group tutoring and enrichment sessions Build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff to foster engagement Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices aligned with City Year's values Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Support school-wide events, initiatives, and service projects Required Skills Student advising Academic intervention planning Data tracking and reporting Classroom support Behavioral management strategies Mentoring and coaching Family and community outreach Goal setting and progress monitoring Basic tutoring (literacy/math) Use of educational technology tools
