Employment Specialist is responsible for providing assistance to our participants in identifying and obtaining competitive community employment. Conducts intake assessments to determine the appropriateness of employment placement, including, but not limited to, the demands of job location and feasibility of services. Maintains appropriate documentation records, case logs, notes, etc. as required and/or requested; maintains communications with the customer and referral source; and all other related activities. May include travel in the field for meetings with clients for the purpose of developing job leads.

The job duties entail:

Assisting individuals in locating gainful employment Working with individuals who have disabilities of different ages and backgrounds Marketing and cold-calling employers to locate openings in the community Answering advertisements for employment on behalf of clients Coaching individuals in office or workplace settings Assisting in applications, interviewing, training, and employment paperwork Creating relationships with local employers and community services Case management Bachelors degree in human service field (i.e. special education, counseling), human resources, or business administration preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferably in vocational counseling of special populations required. Substantial knowledge of vocational rehabilitation and employment services for the disabled, including, techniques of counseling for motivation appropriate to workplace situations. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to establish rapport with participant; to evaluate progress, observe behavior, communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and oral form. Must have active listening, social perceptiveness, and critical thinking and decision making skills. Ability to work well under pressure and handle large caseloads. High level of credibility, integrity, professionalism, and trust required. Must possess valid driving license and meet insurance driving standards.
