Human Resources Summary:
The STEP Forward Program Supervisor is responsible for recruiting, assessing, placing, and supporting program participants who aim to achieve professional success. This includes assisting in job placement and retention services, providing on-the-job training, and classroom support. The supervisor ensures the delivery of quality service at each work site and supports the career development of youth, particularly those with disabilities or employment barriers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of STEP Forward, ensuring alignment with organizational goals by overseeing the program's Career Exposure, Career Exploration, and Career Experience Services.
  • Conduct community outreach and develop outreach plans to inform and engage potential participants and partners about the program.
  • Provide and supervise on-the-job training and classroom support to youth participants.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, community groups, and third-party agencies.
  • Support program staff across locations, ensuring comprehensive administrative support and maintaining high standards of program documentation and reporting.
  • Collect and report data on participant progress and program outcomes, working closely with the Data Coordinator.
  • Represent and promote the program and the organization proactively in various settings, building a qualified pipeline of partners and participants.
  • Develops training plans and task analyses, supervises participants, and ensures compliance with employment standards.
  • Monitors safety and ensures adherence to regulatory safety requirements.
  • Completes performance evaluations, maintains detailed participant records, and submits regular reports to management on program effectiveness.
  • Supervise staff by the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Provide direct supervision to staff as assigned to the program to ensure performance goals set by the agency and funders are met.
  • Ensure that all outcome measurements are met according to requirements and assist in maintaining and reviewing quality standards quarterly.
  • Assists with accreditation and certification activities, participates in accreditation and certification reviews, and provides in-service training to staff.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, developing, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; assisting with Leave of Absence coordination when applicable.
  • Conduct monthly case staffing to ensure ongoing progress is being made on participants' case plan goals.
  • Comply with the agency's policies and procedures, as well as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, SourceAmerica, and APD/Medwaiver standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience providing services to people with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with community partners.
  • Must be flexible, multi-task oriented, and able to prioritize job duties with minimal supervision, including flexibility in work hours.
  • Must always exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  • Must attend required meetings.
  • Must have good written and computer skills necessary to perform job duties.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and address any safety issues that arise, if possible.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Able to operate a computer and MS Office software, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Responds appropriately to supervision.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, and communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Demonstrates responsible behavior, initiative, effort, and commitment toward completing assignments efficiently.
Demonstrate problem-solving skills and pay attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation, or related human services field, preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education at the discretion of the Vice President of Mission Services.
  • Minimum of five to eight years of experience in program management or a supervisory role, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting.
  • Experience working with youth, particularly those with disabilities or barriers to employment.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously under minimal supervision.
  • Professional demeanor, with a capacity to handle confidential information sensitively and securely.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Spanish/ French-Creole is a plus, but not required. Use appropriate terminology appropriate to the intended audience. Mathematic Skills:
Ability to apply concepts such as basic arithmetic calculations, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Presents numerical data effectively.

Report to work on time and as scheduled and remain on the job throughout regular work hours. Notify supervisor of lateness, absence, or if an urgent reason for leaving work arises. Commit to long hours for work when necessary to reach goals; Complete tasks on time or notify supervisor of an alternate plan.
Teamwork:
Works and interacts with others to accomplish overall group goals; solicits feedback to maximize results.
Safety and Security:
Observe safety and security procedures; Report any safety deficiency to the immediate supervisor. Uses equipment and materials properly. Knows what "Material Safety Data Sheets" are and where they are kept.
