STARS Education Career Pathway Coach

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Valid Iowa Teaching Certificate

2. Classroom teaching experience required (4+ years preferred). Experience mentoring or

coaching is a plus.

3. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers,

and administrators

4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and

acceptable.

REPORTS TO and Supported by: Building Principal and Stars Human Resources

LEAD PROGRAM GOALS

Educators Rising is a nationally known career and technical student organization (CTSO) focused on teaching. Leaders support students who are interested in teaching as a career. Candidates must foster skills of all students participating in the EdRising chapter functions and curriculum in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Responsibilities:

1. Meet with students on a regular basis and oversee student-led structure of chapter

2. Keep up with chapter registration (EdRising) and management and planning

procedures for competitions and conferences

3. Develop lesson plans and appropriate technology utilizing effective teaching techniques to

stimulate and maximize learning.

4. Collaborate with other EdRising chapters in the district and University of Iowa Aspiring

Educator chapters

5. Diagnose the needs and levels of performance for each student and appraise student work and progress.

6. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, students, and

administrators.

7. Maintain professional competence through professional development activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.

8. Ensure a group of students attend the Iowa EdRising competition with a goal of competing.

Coaching Qualities:

1. Teach students theories and skills underlying the various competition events

2. Foster skills in research, organization and development of student projects

3. Conduct practices and drills to reinforce and assess skill development

4. Review performance evaluation(s) from competition judges and motivate students to

constantly improve

5. Nurture beginning students while challenging experienced students

6. Continuously assess strengths and weaknesses of the program to improve it from year to year

Exploring Non-Core Subject Teaching

Interactive Bulletin Board (Contest)
