Cottonwood is seeking an Employment Consultant I to support individuals with disabilities as they pursue competitive employment opportunities throughout the community. In this role, you'll work directly with job seekers, local employers, family members, and support networks to create successful employment outcomes and promote workplace inclusion. What You'll Do Guide Individuals Through the Employment Process Assist individuals in identifying strengths, interests, and career goals Help develop resumes, complete applications, and prepare for interviews Provide person-centered support throughout the job search process Encourage independence, confidence, and skill development Deliver Workplace Coaching & Support Provide individualized training and coaching at community job sites Support successful onboarding and workplace integration Help coordinate accommodations, transportation, and workplace resources Address challenges proactively to promote long-term employment success Maintain positive communication with employers, families, and support teams Develop Community & Employer Partnerships Build relationships with area businesses and hiring managers Learn about workforce needs and identify employment opportunities Match employer needs with qualified candidates Serve as a resource for employers regarding disability inclusion and workplace support strategies Documentation & Team Collaboration Complete required reports, service documentation, and scheduling records Maintain accurate consumer and employment records Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and funding agencies Participate in meetings, training opportunities, and ongoing professional development QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing Preferred College coursework in a related field One to three years of experience in customer service, workforce development, human services, or social services Knowledge of the Lawrence-area business community Desired Skills Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Excellent organization and time-management skills Ability to build productive relationships with diverse groups of people Problem-solving mindset and adaptability Compassion, patience, and respect for individuals of all abilities Basic computer proficiency, including email and standard office software Work Environment This position is primarily community-based and includes regular travel throughout the workday to local businesses and employment sites.
The schedule may occasionally require:
