Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Adult Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing guidance and assistance to individuals facing various challenges in coping with Severe Mental Illness. The Adult Peer Support Specialist will utilize their skills in crisis intervention and motivational interviewing to foster a supportive environment that promotes recovery and personal growth. Responsibilities Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients to engage in their treatment plans. Offer support to clients, helping them navigate their challenges. Mentor individuals by providing guidance and resources that promote personal development. Implement crisis management strategies effectively to address urgent situations as they arise. Collaborate with social work professionals and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care. Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes within the systems used by the organization. Stay informed about best practices in behavioral health and addiction counseling to provide the highest level of support. Qualifications A background in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Experience in crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and mental health counseling is highly desirable. Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire confidence and resilience in clients. Familiarity with crisis management techniques and behavioral health systems. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Certification as either an APSS or CSA within the state of Kentucky.
