Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Employment Specialist to join our team at Elliott County High School. The Employment Specialist will play a vital role in connecting students with employment opportunities, providing career guidance, and facilitating job readiness programs. This position requires a proactive individual who is passionate about helping students succeed in their career aspirations and navigate the transition from education to the workforce. Responsibilities Develop and implement career services programs that assist students in exploring career options and securing employment opportunities. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to provide career guidance and support to students. Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to create internship and job placement opportunities for students. Organize job fairs, workshops, and networking events to connect students with potential employers. Assist students in developing resumes, cover letters, and interview skills to enhance their employability. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends and employment opportunities relevant to students' interests and skills. Monitor and track student placements and follow up with both students and employers to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, employers, and educational institutions to enhance career services. Prepare reports and presentations on employment trends and student outcomes for school administration and stakeholders. Provide support and guidance to students with special needs or barriers to employment in their job search efforts. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and all other requirements. Previous experience in career counseling, job placement, or workforce development preferred. Strong understanding of the job market, employment trends, and career development resources. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and employers. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with career development software or databases. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all students. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed for events and workshops.
