Job Description :
Member of Community Support Programming who has experience as a recipient of mental health services for severe and persistent mental illness. Role and Responsibilities Be able to share personal, practical and firsthand knowledge and insight for the benefit of clients he/she will be working with who meet the clinical definition of SMI. Demonstrate good communication and leadership skills to facilitate maximum consumer involvement. Serve as a mentor to clients to promote hope and empowerment in treatment. Provide support, encouragement and assistance with managing daily life activities. Collaborate with other agencies and professionals regarding the clients being served. Prepare and submit reports and data as requested. Possess good communication and writing skills. Must maintain professional and ethical boundaries at all times. Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively on a team. Primarily with TR and CM clients who meet the clinical criteria for Severely Mentally ill Be knowledgeable about and work within the applicable state and federal laws. Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of two years of paid volunteer or related work experience with adults with severe persistent mental illness. Satisfactory background checks and drug screens. Extensive on-the-job training. Physical Requirements Capable of driving a vehicle Capable of visiting consumers in their homes or community settings, which may not be handicapped accessible. Must be very versed in their ability to manage their own mental illness and must be well established in their own individual recovery. Special Requirements Have reliable transportation/or company provided transportation Valid driver's license Satisfactory motor vehicle record Be able to access numerous locations including consumer homes and schools in the Buffalo Trace area. Able to work flexible hours. Must undergo certification and training to maintain professional status.
