Description

Everett Public Schools is seeking a Counselor/ELL Support provider to assist with the start-up of its CTI Culinary Arts adult-training program. This individual will work closely with the curriculum-development team, Program Coordinator, MassHire, and other program partners to ensure equitable access for English learners and multilingual participants throughout recruitment, enrollment, onboarding, and program preparation.

Required Qualifications

Experience supporting English learners, multilingual adults, adult learners, or workforce-development participants.

Knowledge of language-access practices and strategies for supporting multilingual learners.

Ability to provide translation or multilingual communication support for the populations served by the program strongly preferred.

Experience in counseling, education, adult learning, community outreach, workforce development, or a related field preferred.

Ability to review program materials and recommend practical strategies that improve clarity, accessibility, and participant engagement.

Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to work effectively with curriculum developers, program staff, MassHire, community partners, and prospective participants.

Availability to complete assigned start-up activities between October 2026 and February 2027.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the curriculum-development team to identify and address potential language and accessibility barriers within program materials.

Review recruitment, application, orientation, and participant materials for clarity and accessibility.

Recommend language supports, translated materials, visual resources, and other strategies to support multilingual adult learners.

Work with the Program Coordinator and MassHire to support equitable and inclusive participant recruitment.

Assist with outreach and communication to prospective English learners and multilingual participants.

Provide translation and language-access support during recruitment activities, information sessions, applicant follow-up, and initial onboarding.

Help prospective participants understand program eligibility, expectations, schedules, available supports, and application procedures.

Identify potential barriers to enrollment or successful participation and recommend appropriate supports or referrals.

Connect prospective participants with relevant educational, employment, and community resources.

Support the development of an equitable participant-onboarding process.

Participate in required start-up meetings and planning activities.

Complete other program start-up and accessibility-related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education.

Compensation

The Counselor/ELL Support provider will be compensated at a rate of $40.00 per hour for up to 40 hours, with maximum total compensation of $1,600. This is a temporary, grant-funded (Career Technical Initiative; Commonwealth Corporation) start-up position serving from October 2026 through February 2027. Hours are contingent upon program needs, continued grant funding, and successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
