Peer Support Specialist- Beacon House
Job Description
at Community Concepts Inc. in Rumford, Maine, United States Job Description What is a Peer Support Specialist ? This position assists members of the Beacon House program in developing daily living opportunities for peers with chronic and persistent mental illness and/or substance use. The Peer Support Specialist applies the tools developed in their own recovery as well as the philosophy and values of Intentional Peer Support to collaborate, coach, and build relationships with peers. This position is based out of our Beacon House location in Rumford, is 32 hours per week, and schedule is generally Monday through Friday with the hours meeting the needs of clients and programming.
Starting Rate of Pay :
$16.64/hourEssential Duties :
Provides ongoing support, care, and conversation to peers and family members when appropriate. Assist peers and staff with daily activities and duties. Participate in planning and problem-solving to assist peers in achieving goals identified in their treatment plan. Along with staff and peers, participate in skill-building opportunities in community living.Benefits:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Ability to obtain and maintin a Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist with State of Maine Certification within 6 months of hire One year of paid or unpaid peer support experience preferredOther Requirements:
Ability to maintain the Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist Training Program (CIPSS); Pre-employment background checks: Maine Background Check Center (SBI, Direct Care Worker Registry, Maine and National Sex Offender Registry, fraud, and federal debarment), DHHS- Child and Adult Protective, and DMV must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of continued employment; valid driver's license and travel within the service area is required.
