Senior Academic Advisor

The JSU Online at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Senior Academic Advisor. Oversee and mentor all JSU Online academic advisors, ensuring high quality advising practices and professional development. Lead the advising team, monitor performance, and provide ongoing support and mentorship. Develop, implement, and maintain training and onboarding programs for new advisors. Facilitate regular team meetings, revise and maintain the advising handbook, and ensure departmental standards are consistently applied. Evaluate and improve advising processes to enhance efficiency, student experience, and program, compliance. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all JSU Online programs, including requirements, restrictions, and best practices. Advise students on academic progress, transcript reviews, placement assessments, course selection, and registration. Provide student centered guidance to support retention, program completion, and academic/career success. Maintain accurate and confidential advising records, referring students to appropriate support services as needed. Assist students in navigating academic policies, resolving concerns, and addressing barriers to success. Performs other duties as assigned. Master's degree preferably in Counseling, Education, Marketing, or related fields. 3-5 Years of Academic Advising experience in a college or university setting or equivalent relevant experience. Requires ability to communicate clearly via phone, video conferencing, and in-person. Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Banner, and other advising tools.
