Advisor

Remote Position ( 1.0 FTE)

(Occasional attendance at in-person VLACS events/meetings required)

Reports To:

Director of Academic and Student Affairs

Summary:

The Full-Time Program Advisor works directly under the Director of Academic and Student Affairs to promote and nurture student educational success. This role tailors courses of study, monitors academic progress, provides comprehensive support, maintains a safe learning environment, and keeps families engaged throughout the educational journey.

Student & Family Engagement:

Serve as the primary point of contact for full-time students and guardians regarding program specifics, course offerings, curriculum, and graduation credits. Build positive relationships to guide students toward college, career, and citizenship readiness.

Caseload Advising:

Manage a caseload of full-time students, providing holistic support across academic, career, and social-emotional domains. Guide students through developing short- and long-term future plans.

Academic Monitoring & Support:

Track student academic progress, credit acquisition, and attendance. Partner with students, guardians, and instructors to create targeted intervention plans for students struggling with course material or pace.

Program & Admissions Support:

Support advisory curriculum development. Consult with the Admissions team as needed to evaluate applicant criteria for full-time program admission.

Professional Expectations:

Attend all required meetings and ongoing professional development training. Maintain proficiency in required educational technologies and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification:

Valid New Hampshire Educator License in School Counseling (or documented eligibility and willingness to obtain certification).

Experience:

Extensive experience supporting students and families in an educational or counseling setting.

Core Competencies:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Strong active listening, conflict resolution, and student advocacy skills.

High-level problem-solving abilities and collaborative action-planning skills.

Dedication to strong customer service and family support.
