Job Description

Position Information Job Title Director of Career and Life Planning Position Purpose The Director of Career and Life Planning develops, leads, and coordinates the college's career-related activities. These activities include but are not limited to facilitating career exploration and job preparation skills, cultivating job and internship opportunities for students and graduates, managing the employment agreement process for graduate internships, developing community service and federal work study opportunities in the community, working in both groups and one on one with students and graduates in career counseling and guidance. The nature of this position is that the Director needs to work with a variety of constituencies across the campus and outside of the college. Essential Duties Summary Develop, coordinate, and integrate Career and Life Planning activities, services and responsibilities throughout New England College undergraduate programs and the campus community at large; Increase undergraduate internship opportunities and participation by 10% annually by working closely with faculty, while overseeing and streamlining related administrative processes for consistency and compliance; Organize and deliver presentations each semester on career and life planning topics, with post-session evaluations used to assess impact and inform future programming; Expand and maintain a database of internship and employment opportunities for students and alumni on the Handshake platform, increasing student and employer utilization rates by 20% annually; Promote and manage the community service work study program, ensuring that engagement meets or exceeds prior year participation; Locate community opportunities to place students to work in to meet the community service minimum financial aid requirements by the end of each fiscal year; Administer and facilitate the employment agreement process for graduate student internships; Collect, create, assess, and disseminate information on career development, study abroad, and community service through the use of traditional and electronic media; Evaluate Career and Life Planning programs and events by analyzing attendance, engagement, and satisfaction metrics, providing updates regularly to the Vice President of Academic Operations; Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Master's degree required Five-seven years' experience working in college career and life planning or similar field Preferred Qualifications Teaching in higher education Superior verbal and written communication skills Superior interpersonal skills; ability to develop collaborative relationships with campus and off-campus constituencies Public speaking skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire audiences Strong organizational skills Strong program management skills Knowledge of career and student development theory Knowledge of Microsoft office products EEO Statement New England College prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed or religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, pregnancy, veteran's status or disability in regard to treatment, access to or employment in its programs and activities, in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
