Job Description

Rider University invites applications for a part-time position of Writing Studio Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of the Academic Success Center, the Coordinator provides direct oversight of all forms of writing tutoring. This position is responsible for researching best practices in writing tutoring and for designing, implementing, coordinating, assessing and sustaining high quality professional and peer tutoring services in the Writing Studio.
Responsibilities include:
working with faculty and staff to determine the academic support needs of students in their courses, promoting the use of Academic Tutoring services to students and instructors, recruiting, hiring, training and supervising 10-15 undergraduate and graduate students, monitoring sessions, conducting new tutoring training, facilitating ongoing training as well as designing and conducting observations and evaluation of each service. This is a part-time, 10-month position. Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or Literacy Minimum of 3 years' experience tutoring for writing in a college or university setting. Experience supervising student and/or professional tutors. Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required Master's Degree in English, Education, or Literacy 5-10 years' experience tutoring for writing and supervising peer and professional tutors in a college or university setting. Experience with academic support program design and assessment of student learning outcomes.
