Job Description

Employment Counselor General Description:
This full-time non-exempt position, under the supervision of the Program Director, is responsible for vocational and employment counseling as well as job placement and follow-up services for the clients of the assigned program.
Knowledge of:
Federal, state, and local employment laws Employment opportunities convenient to the population served. Employment principles and acceptable work ethics Modern principles of criminal justice and community corrections Employer-employee relation issues relevant to offenders Job development and networking processes Available support services, including tools and opportunities for assessment and skill development.
The demonstrated ability to:
Develop and maintain a directory of bona-fide employers. Interpret and implement contract rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Analyze needs and provide development for residents' job readiness. Participate in team treatment initiatives. Clearly express ideas orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, residents and employers. Manage a flexible work schedule including some travel. Meet reporting requirements accurately and timely. Maintain contracting agency clearance requirements. Maintain a valid driver's license in good standing.
Academic and work experiences:
A bachelor's degree in business, Criminal Justice, or a Social Science and one year of relevant work experience in an adult human service environment (job development and or career development experience preferred). Valid driver's license. #ZR
