Please submit an online application Summary The Success Coach and Coordinator serves as a central resource in advancing student success, retention, and experiential learning at Long Island University. From orientation to graduation, this integrated role combines proactive, individualized coaching with the coordination of academic, career, and co-curricular support services to ensure students thrive throughout their LIU journey. Acting as a student's primary point of contact, the Success Coach provides personalized guidance in academic planning, financial aid navigation, campus engagement, and career readiness. Coaches work one-on-one with students to develop tailored success plans aligned with their goals, interests, and strengths while supporting course selection, major exploration, scholarship access, internship guidance, study abroad opportunities, and post-graduation planning. In addition to direct student support, the Coordinator contributes to the operational and programmatic efforts that enhance the student experience, including leadership development initiatives, career workshops, and campus life programming. This dual function ensures a holistic approach to student development and supports the university's broader goals of persistence, completion, and career success. Reporting to an Associate Director, Success Coaches may focus on key populations such as undergraduate students, graduate students, or international students, while attributing to residence life or campus life. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary advisor and success coach for an assigned caseload of students, providing individualized support for academic, personal, and professional development. Guide students through the LIU Four-Year Model, from pre-enrollment and orientation through graduation, helping them integrate into the academic, social, and cultural life of the University. Support students with course registration, major selection, and degree planning aligned with their long-term career goals. Interpret career assessment tools and coach students in developing career paths that complement their academic pursuits. Assist students in navigating financial aid processes, including reviewing award information and understanding deadlines, procedures, and funding options. Plan and implement student success programming, including life planning seminars, academic workshops, and campus engagement initiatives that foster belonging and holistic development. Provide leadership in a designated area of academic success, campus life, residence life, and financial success. Collaborate with key departments across campus including but not limited to Admissions, Academic Affairs, Alumni and Employer Engagement, The Honors College, Learning Support Services, Athletics, to support recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records, submitting regular reports on retention, registration, and coaching outcomes. Support pre-enrollment and transition activities such as admissions events, orientation, and four-year programming. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Directors and Director of the Center for Student Success & Coaching. Ancillary Responsibilities (Housing and Residence Life Focused) Plan and execute a marketing plan for student on campus housing selection. Assist with all functions of LIU Housing operation accordance with the ACUHO-I Manage all residence hall facilities upgrades, repairs and renovation planning Develops and revises residence hall policies and procedures Ensures robust programming within the residence halls throughout the week and weekends Advises and supports the growth of Residence Hall Association (RHA) Support efforts for enrollment and marketing of Learning Communities Assist with campus efforts to comply with immunizations regulations meeting Public Health Law compliance Manage and maintain centralized records, manage communication with involved parties of each conduct case, monitor and appropriately close cases in a timely manner Provides training on an ongoing basis for the on-duty staff in Residence Life & Housing, Public Safety, and other campus partners on the community standards process and supervises the implementation of the community standards process by all conduct officers, ensuring the process is fair and developmentally relevant and valuable, through one-on-one communication Facilitates educational programming for students on community standards to promote accountability, productive civil discourse, and mutual respect Serve as primary hearing officer for student conduct hearing process and serve as investigators for Title IX Assist with the monitoring, tracking and seeking of all LIU community service-related activities Support and monitor university Clery records and Title IX reports Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred. At least 1-3 years of progressively increasing experience in higher education, student affairs; sound judgment and decision-making skills.
