Background:
Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to provide residents of public housing neighborhoods the tools and resources needed to achieve economic mobility and self-sufficiency, and to break cycles of poverty. Urban Upbound advances its mission through five integrated programs: employment services, financial counseling, youth development/college and career access, the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union, and community revitalization services.

Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Citywide Workforce Development, the Job Developer/Employment Specialist is a key member of the Employment Services Team overseeing member assessment and engagement strategies leading to the attainment of educational, employment, retention, and advancement outcomes for residents of the surrounding community. The Citywide Workforce site is a fun, exciting atmosphere to work in where staff are dedicated to the program, members, and community. Responsibilities:
The Employment Specialist / Job Developer will develop employment opportunities, build employer partnerships, coordinate training and educational advancement services, and support participants in achieving sustainable employment and long-term career growth. Key Performance Expectations The Employment Specialist / Job Developer is expected to: Maintain and actively expand a book of business consisting of employers and hiring partners across diverse industries including but not limited to: Construction and Skilled Trades Healthcare Security Transportation and Logistics Hospitality and Food Service Retail and Customer Service Administrative and Office Support Technology and Emerging Industries Meet or exceed weekly and monthly placement goals established by leadership Develop measurable employment pipelines and hiring opportunities resulting in participant placement, retention, and career advancement Maintain strong employer engagement and consistent hiring activity throughout the year Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployer Development and Job Placement Develop, maintain, and expand employer relationships to secure employment opportunities for participants Maintain an active portfolio of employer accounts and hiring partners across multiple employment sectors Conduct ongoing outreach to employers, staffing agencies, unions, subcontractors, and industry partners Match participants to appropriate job opportunities based on skills, career interests, and employer requirements Coordinate interviews, hiring events, recruitment sessions, and employer presentations Monitor job placement outcomes and support participant retention and advancement efforts
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required or a related field preferred Minimum of two years of experience in workforce development, higher education, or related fields Strong ability to cultivate and maintain partnerships Strong project management skills Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Internet Research, and social media Outcomes-driven, strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform programmatic decisions Highly motivated, with proven capacity to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in high-paced entrepreneurial environment Flexible, with availability to work a weeknight and occasional Saturdays Passion for social justice Urban Upbound is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes candidates of all backgrounds.
