The Employment & Training Administration is currently seeking a full-time Job Developer to join their team. The Job Developer will work within the Job Readiness Training Program (JRT) with job seekers/participants and employers to prepare and assist with job placement. Job seekers are referred by Employment and Training (ETA) staff case managers and the Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS). They are receiving public assistance and have been determined to be employable. Participants are enrolled in the program where workshop preparation, online and in-person job search, and follow up activities are organized and led by the Job Developer. The role calls for interaction and contacts with employers to inquire about job openings, placement opportunities, and retention. The essential nature of the work is to assist participants in meeting federal participation work requirements as well as help them to achieve economic independence. Self-starter qualities needed along with maintenance of participant records, data entry and case note activities. Organization and computer skills are required. Candidate must have strong counseling skills to motivate clients and to identify and overcome barriers to achieve compliance with ETA program demands, using a holistic, supportive approach. May include employer and work site visits. This position must be able to travel between the career centers and other sites as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting public assistance recipient individuals and families referred and mandated by ETA and DSS in finding employment. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising work search activities along with attendance and program compliance. Give job readiness and training workshops in various related topics to groups of clients. Topics may include resume preparation, job search strategies, interviewing skills, dress for success and other related subject matter. Will formulate career plans and evaluate barriers to employment. Accompany job seekers on daily van runs to visit employers to complete applications, follow up on online applications and/or for a job interview. Act as a job coach by preparing and mentoring job seekers during every step in the process of securing employment. This may include encouraging and guiding appropriate dress, attitude, interview skills, and other job readiness training. Develop and seek out job openings with area employers to provide opportunities for job seekers. Provide mentoring to participants who have been placed and identify post-employment related needs to remove barriers and set up for success. Provide retention services to both participant and employer. Involved in development of contracts that may include subsidized and training employment programs, from start to finish, such as On the Job Training Programs and tax saving incentives to employers. Responsible for data entry and case load management, documenting participant activities, vouchering, and other related support. Must work with Career Center Case Managers and Career Specialists to maintain a professional relationship while giving feedback relating to customers, employers, and job openings. Will participate in weekly case conferences to discuss progress. Assistance with job fairs and recruitment events.

Requirements:
Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an Associate's degree and one (1) year experience working in human services, job training, job placement, human resources, education, social work or related field; or three (3) years equivalent work experience.

Special Requirement:

Must be able to ride in van daily with clients.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (may include social work, counseling, psychology). Job development skills, outgoing personality, ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to manage multiple projects. Must be able to travel between offices in Newburgh, Middletown and Port Jervis as needed. Bilingual Skills.

Salary:

$51,880 per annum. This position is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funds.
