Job Description:

Jefferson Community College is seeking a student-focused professional to provide career development and applied learning support for students participating in the ASAP (Advancing Success in Associate Pathways) Program and the Brightway Program for student parents within ASAP. Working collaboratively with the Advising, Career & Transfer Services Office and ASAP Professionals, this position will help students connect their academic experiences to meaningful careers through career exploration, internships, employer engagement, and experiential learning opportunities. This position complements the work of the ASAP team by focusing specifically on career readiness, workforce development, and helping students gain practical experience that prepares them for successful employment after graduation or transfer. Through proactive, individualized career coaching, this position will integrate career development into the existing ASAP case management model, ensuring students begin exploring career and transfer pathways early in their academic journey rather than waiting until graduation. The successful candidate will build strong relationships with students, employers, faculty, and campus partners to expand access to internships, applied learning experiences, and employment opportunities. Particular emphasis will be placed on supporting the unique needs of student parents by providing flexible, relationship-based guidance that promotes career advancement, economic mobility, and long- term student success while complementing the existing services offered through Advising, Career & Transfer Services. Primary Responsibilities Career Development Meet individually with students to explore career interests, identify career pathways, and develop career action plans. Administer and interpret career assessments to assist students in making informed career decisions. Educate students on career opportunities, employment trends, labor market information, and salary expectations. Guide students in exploring transfer and career pathways that align with their academic and professional goals. Develop individualized career development plans that are integrated into each student's academic and ASAP success plan. Provide ongoing career coaching throughout a student's enrollment, monitoring progress toward career and educational goals. Applied Learning & Employer Engagement Assist students in securing internships, job shadowing experiences, service-learning opportunities, undergraduate research, and other applied learning experiences. Develop relationships with local employers and community partners to expand experiential learning opportunities for students. Match students with internships and work-based learning opportunities that support their academic programs and career goals. Collaborate with faculty to promote applied learning opportunities within academic programs. Promote participation in career fairs, employer information sessions, networking events, and experiential learning programs. Identify and cultivate employer partnerships that provide flexible employment, internships, and experiential learning opportunities for student parents and other nontraditional students. Career Readiness Assist students with resume and cover letter development. Conduct mock interviews and provide interview preparation. Help students develop professional communication, networking, and workplace readiness skills. Support students in utilizing Handshake and other career platforms to search for internships and employment opportunities. Deliver career readiness workshops on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, LinkedIn, networking, job searching, and professionalism. Assist students in developing professional online profiles and digital portfolios (e.g., LinkedIn). Program Collaboration & Administration Work closely with ASAP team to identify students who would benefit from career development and applied learning opportunities. Maintain documentation of student participation, employer partnerships, internships, and career-related outcomes. Assist in planning and implementing employer engagement events, career fairs, internship programs, and applied learning initiatives. Collect data and prepare reports demonstrating student participation and career outcomes. Perform other related duties supporting career development and applied learning initiatives. Collaborate with Advising, Career & Transfer Services and ASAP staff to coordinate seamless referrals and comprehensive student support. Participate in ASAP team meetings and case management discussions to identify career- related interventions for students. Provide flexible appointment options and outreach to accommodate the needs of student parents balancing academic, work, and family responsibilities. Track career milestones, internship participation, employment outcomes, and transfer outcomes for Brightway and ASAP students. Assist with grant reporting and assessment activities related to the Brightway Career Development Pilot This position serves as the bridge between the classroom and the workforce by helping students gain real-world experience before graduation. Through career planning, employer engagement, internships, and applied learning opportunities, the Career & Applied Learning Coach empowers ASAP students to develop career readiness skills, build professional networks, and successfully transition to employment or transfer after completing their studies.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required. Experience in career services, workforce development, employer relations, internship coordination, advising, higher education, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of career development principles, experiential learning, and employment trends. Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to establish partnerships with employers, faculty, and community organizations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience using Microsoft Office and career management platforms such as Handshake or similar systems is preferred. Additional Information:

Part-time (approximately 21 hours per week). Occasional evening hours may be required to support employer events, career fairs, and student programming. $21/hr.
