Job Description

Provides coordination and leadership at the Williamson Innovation Park for STEM activities relating to K-12 access and community outreach. Organizes activities aimed at building a pipeline of STEM-interested students and promoting STEM careers and educational opportunities at YSU. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies; generally, determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events. Develops and staffs regularly scheduled programming to take place at the Williamson Innovation Park with the goal of engaging the community in STEM-themed education. Promotes educational and training opportunities available at Youngstown State University with the goal of developing a pipeline from engagement at the Williamson Innovation Park to enrollment at YSU. Assists in the development of educational activities and curriculum for day camps and summer camps; provides staffing support for camps. Supports the efforts of the STEM Outreach and Scholarships staff with events and programming, generally. Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned. Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate. Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review ?related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components. Prepares for and attends events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Assists with training new hires. Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated:
Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule:
Twelve-month, 20 hours per week. Flexible scheduling Monday-Saturday based on programming. Saturday and occasional evening availability is required.
Supervision Exercised:
May exercise supervision over student employees.
Reports to:
Director, Outreach and Scholarships - STEM Required Certifications, Training, and/or
Licensures :
Valid driver's license. First-aid and CPR training.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Knowledge of:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    At least a bachelor's degree; and one year of related experience.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    A bachelor's or graduate degree in education, curriculum development or design, or a STEM field. Three or more years of related experience including one year working in a middle or high school setting. Curriculum planning and classroom management experience. Experience and comfort presenting to groups of 25 or more.
