Life Planning Coordinator | The Academy of Blanchard The Academy of Blanchard is the newest addition to our growing district, The Academies of Oklahoma, a network of schools dedicated to helping students connect their education to meaningful futures. Our model emphasizes Life Planning, career exploration, and real-world learning experiences that help students discover their strengths and begin building purposeful pathways. We are seeking a full-time Life Planning Coordinator who is passionate about helping students develop essential life skills, explore their interests, and discover the many opportunities available to them. This role plays a vital part in supporting students' academic, career, and personal growth through engaging guidance lessons, meaningful programming, and strong partnerships with community and industry leaders. The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, and relational, with a genuine passion for empowering young people. If you enjoy mentoring students, coordinating impactful events and speakers, and helping students connect their learning to their future goals, we would love to hear from you. Student Engagement & Support The Life Planning Coordinator will work with students in PK through 12th grade in a small school environment of approximately 350 students, providing personalized guidance and life planning support across all grade levels. Elementary School Engagement Facilitate life skills and character development lessons that help students build confidence, self-awareness, and goal-setting habits Introduce students to career awareness and future possibilities through age-appropriate activities Coordinate guest speakers, career days, and enrichment opportunities Middle School Exploration Lead career exploration and life planning activities to help students identify strengths and interests Guide students in developing personal goals and decision-making skills Organize workshops and events that expose students to a variety of careers and industries High School Support Provide one-on-one advising to help students develop meaningful college, career, and life planning goals Guide students through course selection, college applications, scholarship searches, and postsecondary planning Facilitate career exploration opportunities, including job shadowing, workplace tours, and internships Encourage students to identify their strengths, interests, and long-term goals Event Coordination & Programming Plan and coordinate workshops on college readiness, financial literacy, leadership, soft skills, and career exploration Organize career fairs, expos, and guest speaker events connecting students with local businesses and industry professionals Support school-wide events, retreats, and enrichment activities that engage students across grade levels Monitoring & Reporting Track and monitor student participation in Life Planning activities to ensure alignment with program goals Maintain accurate documentation and assist with program reporting Collect feedback from students and families to support continuous program improvement
Post-Secondary Support:
Senior Capstone Facilitate Senior Capstone meetings and assist students with college essays, portfolios, and applications Provide guidance on FAFSA, scholarships, and financial aid resources Support standardized test preparation and postsecondary planning Additional Life Planning Initiatives Support peer mentoring programs that encourage student leadership and peer-to-peer guidance Coordinate job shadowing, internships, and volunteer placements Integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into workshops and student programming Collaborate with the Life Planning Director and school leadership to strengthen and grow programming across campuses Assist in developing community partnerships that expand career exposure and postsecondary opportunities Assist with Camp Quest, a weekend retreat for all Academy freshmen Assist with site-level testing Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred) Experience working with students in educational or mentoring roles; experience as a school counselor is highly valued but not required Strong organizational, communication, and event-planning skills Familiarity with college admissions, scholarships, career exploration, or student advising Passion for helping students develop life skills, confidence, and meaningful future plans About Our Program The Academies of Oklahoma aims to reimagine education and expand opportunities for students in rural communities.
